Make sure your leather gloves last!
Follow these 4 steps to make sure your gloves last season after season.
Take proper care of your gloves, and you won’t have to waste money buying new ones every year.
1. Cleaning
Wipe with a damp cloth (not wet!) after use.
For stains: use a bit of saddle soap or a mild leather cleaner on a soft cloth.
Never rub hard – it can damage the surface.
2. Care
Condition your gloves with Fjällwear leather balm from time to time to keep them soft and resistant to cracks. It also makes the leather supple and flexible.
Apply a thin layer, let it absorb, and gently polish with a soft cloth.
3. Drying
If they get wet, let them air dry at room temperature.
Avoid direct heat (radiators, hair dryers) – it will dry out the leather.
You can stuff them with paper to help maintain their shape.
4. Storage
Store them in a dark, dry, and cool place.
For extra protection against dust and drying, keep them in the Fjällwear fabric bag your gloves came in.
Avoid:
- Washing machine and tumble dryer
- Alcohol-based cleaners
- Heat from hair dryers, radiators, or the sun
Gloves made of synthetic leather and other materials
Follow these 4 steps to make sure your gloves last season after season — even if they’re made of synthetic leather or other materials.
1. Cleaning
Wipe the surface with a damp microfiber cloth and a small amount of mild dish soap in lukewarm water.
Avoid soaking the glove or using harsh chemicals, as they can dry out or crack the surface.
For stubborn dirt, use a weak solution of water and white vinegar (50/50).
2. Drying
Let the gloves air dry at room temperature — not on a radiator or in direct sunlight, as heat can cause synthetic materials to crack.
You can stuff them with a bit of paper to help them keep their shape while drying.
3. Avoid
Washing machine and tumble dryer
Alcohol-based cleaners
Heat from hair dryers, radiators, or the sun
4. Storage
Store the gloves in a dry, cool place.
Keep them away from direct sunlight and high heat.
If you’re storing them for a longer period, place them in the Fjällwear fabric bag (not a plastic bag — it can cause condensation and mold).
